13 Mar New Wiveliscombe Enterprise Centre given the go ahead

Plans for an exciting, new Enterprise Centre in Wiveliscombe were given the go ahead this month.

The new, purpose built facility, located on the old Karro Food Group site on Sandy Moor in Wiveliscombe, will provide modern, accessible space for small and growing businesses.

Once built, the centre will provide 260 square metres of flexible office space and 350 square metres of light industrial units – all with ultrafast broadband. The units will have flexible terms that suit the requirements of new, early stage and growing businesses.

Councillor David Hall, Cabinet Member for Business and Inward Investment at Somerset County Council, said: “This is a great boost for entrepreneurs who want to set up a new business in the Wiveliscombe area and for existing businesses that want to expand.

“Finding the right sort of space that is modern, flexible and accessible can be a real challenge for businesses. This centre has been specifically designed to address a need for office space in the local area and to support business growth.”

The facility will also offer local business support and access to networking events.

Planning permission for the Wiveliscombe Enterprise Centre has been approved by Taunton Deane Borough Council. The centre represents the first phase of development on the site.

The Wivelicombe Enterprise Centre will be the latest addition to the Council’s network of five enterprise centres – in Dulverton, Minehead, Wheddon Cross and Highbridge – that are already home to around 45 business supporting more than 100 jobs. Planning permission has also been granted for a centre in Wells and to expand the centre in Highbridge.
